Sometimes, when the modeler gets excited with a project, he leaves reason aside. This is what happened to me with this model. Being available in the market more recent kits, I took from my “stock” an old box, and, adding PE and a couple of parts from my spare box, I decided to build this model with extra work, but also more fun.
The kit I’m referring to, is the old Panzer III N/M from Dragon with PE for the fenders from Eduard #35916 originally for the STuG III Ausf C/D. The aim of this article is to share with you the work to convert the Panzer III M late in an early version.
The tracks of the early version are spare tracks from other Dragon Panzer III, and tow hooks were taken from a Tamiya Panzer III L.
All the modifications I’ll indicate in the article are necessary to accomplish the Ausf M early version instead of the manufacturer proposal. The steps I don’t refer about, are those omitted because they didn’t correspond to the version I was building.
Step 1 - 2 & 3
For these steps, I followed the instructions, everything coincides with the chosen version, this is why I made no change or correction.
Using a motortool I removed the cover from one of the drive sprockets, then the center was hollowed and nuts from my spare box were placed.
