The new kit from Meng is a AMX-30B, and the variant used by the French army in the Gulf War was the AMX-30B2, with some add-ons. Some time ago, Heller had released a limited edition of their AMX-30B kit which included the parts to convert it into a Gulf War tank. In this article, I’ll share with the reader how I built my AMX30-B2.
This version, the AMX30-B2 is the one of the 4th regiment of Dragons as committed in operation Daguet. Nowadays, there are not many manufacturers offering modern French tanks. Only three decided that it worth the try. For this article, I used the Heller AMX30 kit and the Azimut conversion resin set which included the AMX-30 B2 of the Daguet division.
In the following images, you can appreciate the model finished before painting, lot of work. The Azimut set gives much realism to the model; besides I used PE from Eduard #35221 and Fruimodel tracks #ATL-115 to improve even more the quality of details.
Using plasticard, I started improving the maintenance hatches as well as the corresponding details.
