In 1968 McLaren Team left aside the BMR engine and started to use FORD Cosworth DFV, building the M7A. This new car was designed by Robin Herd (who left the team to join Cosworth Engineering and later – 1970 – founded March) and completed by Gordon Coppuck (the future designer of winning M23).
During this season different experiments were done:
At Jarama two fuel tanks like panniers as used for Lancia-Ferrari
A right-side only long-range tank and first rear wing at Rouen;
Short nose at Monaco
Different rear wing, front flaps and engine cover at Spa.
My choice is the last one, since Bruce McLaren drove to his first victory in a Grand Prix at Spa driving a car with his own name.
Chassis / body
I began polishing the chassis and main body parts.
Then I made a dryfitting.
Next step was riveting the monocoque. I used Master Club 0.4 mm resin rivets and Scale Hardware 0.5 mm metallic rivets.
