I can’t remember exactly when I started to build middle-east models. But I’m sure that nowadays there are many more options available to choose. Recently, Trumpeter released three versions of the PT-76, among them, the PT-76B (kit #00381) which fits perfect for the Middle East theatre.

 

I think that this vehicle is a weird subject for a manufacturer to decide to release it in plastic injection. There are other interesting Russian vehicles which perhaps could have been better to be manufactured in plastic than this one; let’s say the T-80, T-64, BTR-60, etc). Anyway, I thank Trumpeter for having given us this high quality kit.

When you open the cardboard box, you will find:

Instruction sheets with 18 steps

Very soft vinyl tracks, which are good to work with

The upper and lower hulls separately packed.

Color decals with instructions for the different versions.

A nylon rope

Two photo etched frets.

Three grey plastic sprues

Assembly

After checking the kit, I decided to build my kit straight out the box without any major modifications or improvements.

Step 1-2-3

The wheels assembly is straightforward, the only point that must be taken into account is to remove the visible mold marks. Suspension mechanism was easy to assemble, remains square and ready to place the wheels without the need of further alignment.
