After I saw an Audi R8 at the 24 hours racing in Dubai, spring 2008, I thought about a “wilder“ creation of this idea. The result was this Audi R8 Red Bull race version, based on the Revell Audi R8 street car kit.

The Revell-Body was modified in several areas:

I made a cut on top and rear of the front fenders and glued in a piece of sheet, so that they look wider.

Into the front hood, I cut an opening for cooling purpose.

Side skirts and rear wheel wells were widened.

Air-inlet on the roof.

Cutting a hole in the area, where usually the rear license plate sits.

After sanding and priming, the body was painted silver and metallic blue, decaled and clearcoated

The rear wing was scratchbuilt.

The kit interior was sanded and a cage, a seat, seat belts and some small racing gimmicks were added.

The model was finished by adding some mesh in the openings, the lights, mirrors, antenna and wheels.

The decals are from www.automobilminiaturen.de.
