In 2003 was exposed in the museum a restored example of one of the Italian Air Force Dakotas used from 1957 until 1982 for radio measures over Italian airports.
The plane is coded 14-45, and wears the colourful scheme of the 8° Gruppo (8th Squadron) of the 14° Stormo (14th Wing), typical of the radio measures planes.
This example was left derelict for years in a corner of a IAF base near Rome, but around 10 years ago a group of former IAF crewmen begun the beautiful restoring job you can see.
The color scheme is Gloss White on the top fuselage, Medium Gray (FS. 36231) on the fuselage bottom and all the wing surfaces, with Day-glo Orange areas on nose, fuselage sides and tail, with Medium Blue trim and anti-glare panel.
