Two years ago when I decided to build all Ferrari's "T" era cars in 1/12 scale, I only had few options. One of the most conflictive models was the 312T3, so many were the differences regarding the Tamiya's T and T4 models that it seemed impossible to start from them. I decided to get all the T3 information I could, pictures, diagrams, etc, it was not so much what I could find but enough to realize the difficulty this project would carry out, having a 1/20 Tamiya's 312 T3 was of great help in this stage.

I discarded the possibility of building the chassis and body in scratch, then I chose the Protar's kit, which has a great quantity of inaccuracies, although its measures are in scale.

To achieve more precision and quality I decided to use the old 312T motor as well as the gearbox and other basic parts.

Also some Tamiya's 312T4 parts were used. Resuming I only used from Protar, the following parts: the chassis, the complete body, the rear aileron and its support, the steering and the front suspension arms.

The rest of the parts were taken from: both Tamiya's Ferraris, the spare parts box or built in scratch according to the reference pictures.

Modifying parts

The parts modified or built were:

The rear suspension, was modified from the 312T, it was necessary to change the exhaust support, the stabilizer bar and other mechanical parts.
