The Shizuoka 2005 Hobby Show that took place in Japan around the middle of May, introduced as usual, some interesting news. Modeling Japanese industry is mighty and, at Shizuoka, all their greatest splendour can be appreciated. Something that caught my attention, among other things, was the Doyusha presentation of their collectable series in 1/100 scale.
The trees come already painted, featuring markings for several versions, and with parts ready to snap on, no glue is necessary there. This is not new as since a couple of years ago, Bandai have been offering the star ships of “Star trek”, the famous TV series. I had the opportunity of giving a look to one of these incredible kits, hardly no work is necessary…just by pouring an hour, you’ll be enjoying the finished model.
The demands of our hobby and life in general, have increased, taking up a lot of time from modelers who devote to this or any other activity, besides, the average age of modelers have increased while the patience and available energy decrease, at times.
In short, if we expect to see an “alive” modeling, let’s say at least along the current 21st century, capable of capturing the needs of the average man/woman, it’s a must to have an industry offering a wide range of options, for those who are very busy…who are not pretty skilful…eager…young…not so young ….and collectors. |
