During a visit to my friend Philippe, I had the opportunity of driving a red S2000, the test was fantastic and I simply fell in love with the car. As soon as Tamiya released the S2000 kit, I bought one right away to build a scale model of that red car The only reproach I could make is, that I had to build it with the steering wheel on the right-hand side.

Nothing serious, because, after several years Tamiya released a second edition, with all the necessary to build the model with the steering wheel on the left-hand side, if it’s to your liking; and to complete the beautiful model, a second set of wheels, a roof and a sport steering wheel.

Building the Mugen S2000

The second edition of the Tamiya kit encouraged me to build another S2000, this happened two years ago and by then, there was available a conversion from Scale Auto Style ref: SAS-S2K01 and SAS-S2K02 which offered the hood, and hardtop to build the S2000 Mugen.

In the conversion, I lowered the chassis, added a front spoiler, installed bigger brakes and Fujimi 18 inch wheels.

Though unfortunately the conversion is not available nowadays, this article shows the work I did, and surely, it will be useful for modelers who, with some work, can make the hood and hardtop from scratch.

Construction

In the following images, you may appreciate the resin parts after the flashes were removed. No defects were encountered and the fit with the Tamiya kit was correct.
