One of the largest Chinese manufacturers, the IXO firm, offers in kit form the Mercedes-Benz W196 with which Mercedes won, in the 1954 and 1955 Formula 1 seasons, nine out of twelve races, driven by Juan Manuel Fangio. On the other hand, Agora Models offers the same model in the Stirling Moss colors.

In Argentina the model was sold by Salvat publisher, divided in 85 deliveries. These are called fascicles or in different ways depending on the language, it's about dividing a kit into assembly stages and delivering it with a magazine, which

generally contains the assembly instructions and some history related to the model, which has the colors and story by Juan M. Fangio. A mistake in my opinion was to offer the seat with red tartan instead of blue.

Both Ixo and Agora models are the same kit, manufactured by IXO for Salvat years ago, the difference is the number, the English flag, and the tartan on the seat.

With this photo array I share with the reader my experience with the model adding many missing details, not all, painting parts and applying plastic modeling techniques to improve the appearance of this expensive model. In addition, solving some problems that the kit has and showing tips and tricks to improve or facilitate its assembly.

This tutorial is dedicated to modelers, with little experience but who are capable of reproducing what they see in pictures, and here is a little help, that will save you time, give you some extra fun and allow you to get a better model.
