The Bronco plastic kit of the Turan II is another addition to their WWII Hungarian Tank range of 1/35 scale kits. Parts were beautifully detailed with little need for cleaning of flash. There were 216 individual track links in brown plastic, two sheets of photo-etched parts and clear parts...

The glossy coloured instruction manual is clear and offers five colour options for the Turan II. There was limited interior detailing available with only a front driver’s seat and pedals supplied.

The three build options allowed the construction of either the early version or the late version with straight side skirts or angled side skirts.

Building

The Turan II had 36 tyre road wheels and 20 tyre track support wheels. Not to mention two spare wheels on the rear of the hull and the four sets of front and rear sprocket wheels! Once they had all been cleaned up, tyre wear was created by sanding the tyres with a coarse sanding stick using a circular action to avoid bald spots. Then using the edge of a rasp file splits and tears were added also. Finally, they were left to soak in soapy water to remove any unwanted sanding dust and left to dry on a paper towel.

Realistic tyre wear is an important factor to consider in any tank model.
