Weighing up…

by Mario Covalski

Another December…announcing the end of a year. Actually nothing changes, but for most of human beings, it means the end of a period and the beginning of other, with new and great expectations about our life and activities.

Usually, we hear from people trying their own balance, and certainly many of us do so, pondering over our activities, successes and failures, and in general, our life.

This month, I want to reflect on two points which I wish you could be so patient as to read and share them with me.

The current year is another one Modeler Site have been -on line-, it’s very important to stand this fact out, since we’ve been working against time in quite a competitive circle, driving ourselves far too hard to do our best. I’ve not seen many paper magazines with the amount of articles that every month are published here.

We’ve always remained faithful to our editorial line, offering notes with high level technical contents; most of them step by step articles with plenty of pictures along the construction, real compendiums on the subjects in question. Our articles don’t aim at advertising subjects or brands driving readers to purchase them, on the contrary, we’re interested in the modelling aspect, and this is why month after month it’s so hard for us to get the valuable material we look for. We want to help you to get the most from your hobby and invite you readers, to send us more articles, advanced techniques…etc.

Another point I want to consider, is about everything done by each of us along this year, about the kits we built, our present or future projects…. It’s important to carry out this balance, since I believe our real interest will come to light from it, at least at the moment of life we’re going through.

Let’s also think about what modeling means: I suppose you’ll agree with me that it’s not just a matter of collection, straight from the box constructions, taking part in contests…etc. Plastic modeling and in general, any other hobby, is a way of seeing life and enjoying the moments allowing to emerge the best of us, our unfulfilled dreams, our deepest desires...well, our own soul.

Then, why not to weigh up our modeling year, to feel again the pleasure we had with each model or project so as to know which attitude do we take toward this activity?.

I can’t conclude my December 2004 editorial without being very grateful to all those who make it possible that Modeler Site remain on line, our faithful readers, sponsors, contributors and especially to our friends Scott and Peter, without whom, such an intellectually ambitious project would not be possible, thank you very much for your help!!

I wish I could have my crystal ball to hand, but well, it’s in the shop for repairs :-). Nevertheless, I don’t give up hope that 2005 will be a year where the world could be the safest place to live in with our families and that finally, we’ll find the peace most of us deserve. Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year!!
